How to Get Rid of Moulds in the Loft?

Moulds release spores into the air which we inhale and, as a consequence, we may develop various diseases. Therefore, it is important to maintain a pleasant climate in the loft, with an ideal humidity of 45 to 55%. Moulds appear primarily on the walls adjacent to the exterior (on circumferential walls), in places where thermal bridges are present (corners, niches, various caps), around the windows and on the walls behind the furniture.

The Nano Coat System active building material also helps prevent the appearance of moulds. It is a special mixture developed with state-of-the-art nanotechnology.

This building system reduces the risk of the appearance of moulds by forming a thermal reflective layer that reflects thermal radiation back to the room while eliminating excessive moisture because the material is vapour-permeable. It prevents the condensation of water vapours on the surface of the walls. If there is a kitchen, a bedroom or a children’s bedroom in your loft, the Nano Coat System is an ideal solution because its surface is antibacterial. Therefore, it is suitable to rooms where children and allergics stay and also to  rooms where food is handled.




Which Places Should the Material be Applied to in the Loft?

Apply the Nano Coat System especially to all the circumferential walls (facade, external walls), to the ceiling or to the places where thermal bridges are present. Apply it around the windows and balcony doors, too, because water vapours may condense in these places. Remember to apply it also on the walls behind the furniture because that is the place where air cannot circulate sufficiently, which may lead to the appearance of moulds.

Nano Coat System consists of: 

Nano PT - represents deep penetration that stabilizes the foundations. It is used for absorbent cohesive surfaces and is applied with a brush or roller.

Nano AM - it is used on all other surfaces where we can not use Nano PT. Thus, non-absorbent cohesive surfaces such as glass, iron and others. Apply with a brush or roller.

Nano TC - it is used to repair holes, cracks and small irregularities of size up to 3-4mm.

Nano Coat Home the final layer of mass applied by a stainless comb trowel to a pre-treated, smooth surface of about 2 mm thick. After drying, grind the surface with sandpaper.

 

Apply in the following order: 

1. Nano PT or Nano AM,

2. Nano TC, if necessary to repair the surface,

3. final layer Nano Coat Home.
